Grok

Get a sourced recap of a fast-moving topic with Grok

Use xAI's Grok assistant to summarise a current topic with citations, then open the sources yourself before you repeat anything.

Based on the official xAI page.

Written from the tool's official pages, listed under Official sources at the end of this guide. Check them for current features, limits and terms.

Try it (opens in a new tab)

Steps to try

  1. Use the official Grok on the web or the official iOS or Android app from xAI's page. This guide does not cover any chat bot on a messaging app.
  2. Write the question narrowly, with the time window you care about, for example what changed in a topic this week.
  3. Ask for a short recap with citations to primary sources.
  4. Open every cited link and confirm that the source says what the recap claims.
  5. Mark any claim that has no source, and look for a second independent source before relying on it.
  6. Write your own summary from the sources you verified, and keep the links.

Limitations

A recap can be wrong, out of date or one-sided, and social posts vary widely in reliability. Citations can be mismatched to the claims, so open them. Grok-named bots on messaging apps such as Telegram exist, and we have not confirmed whether any of them is an official xAI product, so we do not link or recommend one.

Pricing

Plans, limits and features change. Check the official xAI page for what is free and what is paid.

Privacy and data

Treat what you type as shared with the provider, and avoid confidential or personal material. Read xAI's privacy information and any data settings before use, and be especially careful with third-party bots that use the Grok name.

About the sources

The official xAI page blocked automated fetching, so its text was collected through a separate public extraction. It describes Grok as an assistant for writing, research and recaps that searches the web and X, with citations. This note covers the product-level description only.

Alternatives

ChatGPT, Claude and traditional search can also support research. Reading the primary sources directly is always an option.
