Recraft
Generate a small, consistent SVG icon set with Recraft
An image generator whose documentation covers vector (SVG) output, style reuse and background tools. Useful for icons and simple illustrations for a site or deck.
Written from the tool's official pages, listed under Official sources at the end of this guide. Check them for current features, limits and terms.
Try it (opens in a new tab)Steps to try
- Decide the set first: write down five or six subjects, the size they will be used at and the colours you need, so the images match each other.
- Create an account on the official site and try a vector-capable model on one subject with a short, plain prompt that names the style, for example flat or outline.
- Compare a few results and keep the look you like. The documentation describes saving a style and matching styles from reference images; use those for the rest of the set rather than re-describing the look each time.
- Generate the remaining subjects with the same style and prompt wording, changing only the subject.
- Open each SVG in your design or code tool. Check edges, legibility at small size and that nothing looks like an existing logo or trademark.
- Download the files you keep, since the documentation says result links expire after a period of time. Developers can read the API pages if they want to script batches.
Limitations
AI image output varies between runs and may need several attempts. Text inside images and exact brand shapes can be unreliable, and logos need human design and trademark checks. Model names, sizes and features change, so check the docs.
Pricing
The documentation describes credit-based usage with different costs per model and operation, and a separate API. Check the official pricing page for current plans and what commercial use is allowed; this guide gives no figures.
Privacy and data
Prompts and any images you upload are sent to the service. Do not upload client, confidential or personal images, or brand assets you lack rights to, without reading the provider's terms and privacy information. Keep API tokens out of code repositories and shared documents.
About the sources
Based on the vendor's published documentation, not hands-on testing. Output quality was not tested.
Alternatives
Hand-drawn or stock icon libraries are predictable for plain icons. Other AI image tools and Figma-based workflows can also work; try the same prompt in two tools.
