Raycast
Turn your five most repeated actions into Raycast shortcuts
Raycast is a keyboard launcher. Use snippets, quicklinks and hotkeys to remove small repeated steps from your day, one at a time.
Written from the tool's official pages, listed under Official sources at the end of this guide. Check them for current features, limits and terms.
Try it (opens in a new tab)Steps to try
- For one working day, jot down every small action you repeat: opening the same sites, pasting the same replies, finding the same files.
- Read the Manual's Quickstart, then check the platforms it lists (Mac, Windows, iOS) to confirm your device is covered.
- Create Quicklinks for the websites and searches you open most, and give each a short alias so it opens from the keyboard.
- Create Snippets for text you retype, such as an email sign-off or a standard reply. Keep them free of passwords, keys and personal data.
- Assign a hotkey only to your two or three most frequent commands, then use the manual's Import & Export Settings page to back up what you built.
- After a week, delete anything you did not use. Look at Script Commands or AI features only if a real repeated task is still left over.
Limitations
The manual's front page lists many features (AI, extensions, agents, window management), but we only describe the basics here. Time saved depends on whether you really repeat the actions. Script commands and AI features that act on your files or data should be tested on non-critical items first.
Pricing
The manual covers Account and Billing pages and separate Teams and Enterprise sections, which suggests different tiers. Check the official site for what is free, paid or credit-based today; we do not state figures.
Privacy and data
Clipboard History can capture anything you copy, including passwords and private messages; the manual has controls for it, so review them. AI features send text to AI providers, and the manual has a Raycast AI Privacy & Security page to read first. Snippets must never contain secrets. For work devices, follow your organisation's software policy.
About the sources
Based on the vendor's published documentation, not hands-on testing. Only the basics from the manual's front page are described.
Alternatives
Your operating system's built-in launcher and text-replacement settings cover many of the same needs for free. A text-expander app or a note of copy-paste replies may be enough.
